The Town of Belmont is a picturesque suburban community located on Cambridge’s western border and just 8 miles from Downtown Boston. Belmont is also bordered by Watertown, Waltham, Lexington, and Arlington. Known to longtime residents as “The Town of Homes”, Belmont is a primarily residential community. Belmont offers easy access to Boston and Cambridge via two Commuter Rail stops (Belmont Center and Waverly). Belmont even has a working farm, Belmont Acres Farm.

Notable residents of Belmont have included Henry Kissinger, Frederick Law Olmsted, Empress Masako, Yo-Yo Ma, Sebastian Junger, and Mitt Romney.

Charming Belmont Center is the hub of shopping and dining for the town. Belmont Center has a bookstore, gift shops, clothing stores, jewelers, banks, a toy store, and a wide array of locally owned restaurants.

Real estate in Belmont is primarily single-family homes ranging from starter Capes and Ranches to large luxury estates. Other options include multi-families and condos.

There is a wide array of recreational activities in Belmont including, Rock Meadow, Lone Tree Hill, the Mass Audubon Habitat, Beaver Brook Reservation, Belmont Hill Club, and Belmont Country Club.

Belmont is well known for some of the best public and private schools in Massachusetts. Belmont High School is consistently ranked among the top 10 in Massachusetts. Private schools include Belmont Day School and Belmont Hill School.
